The Fundación Mamachama works in Colombia and Spain to empower women, promoting and creating opportunities for their financial freedom, and offering complementary training that they may have not had access to. In Colombia, their work is focused on the San Jacinto area, in Montes de María. The Sacyr Foundation has supported the group to automate the cassava flour production process, that used to be done by hand.
The product was officially presented at the Green Business Expo. There, Julienis López, a representative of the association of rural women innovators to whom the Sacyr Foundation and Mamachama have offered training to manufacture the product, ensured that: “We apply ourselves to producing 100% natural, organic cassava flour, with no chemicals or additives”.
This organization is made of nine women, heads of household, and victims of the armed conflict in Colombia. Now, thanks to cassava flour, these women have greater independence and more relevancy in their community.
The stand at the fair was visited by the Minister for Comerce, industry and tourism, María Ximena Lombana, who showed great interest in this product presented by Mamachama.
